Fine Art Equine Photography Session
how it works
A Fine Art Equine Photography Session takes place right at your yard, where your horse feels comfortable and at ease.
For this special session, your photographer will set up a mini studio at your stable. This includes a professional backdrop and a set of studio lights to beautifully capture your horse’s features.
What We'll need
• An indoor space, such as an arena, storage area, or stable corridor.
The space doesn’t need to be large — about 4×6 meters is perfect.
In fact, the less natural light, the better! We use only studio strobes to achieve that striking Fine Art look.
• Plenty of soft treats — small pieces of carrots, apples, bananas, etc.
We place these treats on a stick to gently encourage your horse to stretch or bend their neck for those beautiful, elegant poses.
Preparation:
• You can choose how your horse is presented — braided with a bridle for a classic, polished look, or completely natural.
• We always use a special photo halter, which is later edited out of the final images, creating the illusion of your horse standing free.
• A well-groomed coat really makes a difference! The shinier your horse, the more beautifully the light reflects in the final portraits.
Arranging a Helping Hand:
Please bring a friend along — it makes all the difference!
Having a helper is essential for a smooth session. One person will hold the photo halter to keep your horse steady, while another operates the treat stick to guide their attention.
Horse Care & Well-Being:
Most horses aren’t fazed by flashing lights, though they might need a moment to get used to the new setup. We take our time introducing your horse to the studio space, ensuring they feel comfortable.
If your horse feels a bit unsettled, that’s okay! We can walk them around, give them a break, or even lunge or feed them beforehand if needed. There’s no rush — we allow plenty of time for your horse to settle.
Some days just aren’t their day — and that’s perfectly fine. If your horse simply isn’t in the mood to cooperate, we’ll happily reschedule for another time.
Your horse’s comfort, safety, and well-being will always be our top priority.
