To honour the horse is to honour the space between two beings built on trust, vulnerability, and mutual respect.
“I’m so grateful to ride on his back,” she says. “To be trusted by him… it’s something that humbles me every time. I feel honoured. I feel inspired.”

Behind the Lens at Sanctuary Stables
This unforgettable shoot took place at the beautifully kept Sanctuary Stables. The perfect setting to bring Nadine and Mercury’s story to life. We set up right in Mercury’s spacious stable, where he was more than happy to enjoy some teff and snacks while we quietly worked around him. True to his calm nature, he paid little attention to the lights or gear, focused instead on what really mattered: carrots.
Nadine and Mercury have been training together for over six years, and the results speak for themselves. Mercury, with his sculpted frame and showstopping presence, moved like a true performer. And Nadine, effortlessly elegant in her PS of Sweden ensemble, brought grace and strength to every frame.
Equine photography comes with its own set of challenges, but over time, we’ve fine-tuned our lighting setups and developed gentle ways to guide horses into camera-ready positions (with the help of a well-placed carrot or two). Every detail in this shoot, from the calm energy in the stable to the bond between these two, came together to create something truly special.
